Gael Clichy has lifted the lid on the feelings running through the Arsenal camp following William Gallas’ astonishing outburst, with the full back claiming his fellow Frenchman’s comments have ‘shattered’ the squad.
Gallas was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy following his verbal attack on his Arsenal team-mates.
Arsene Wenger restored Gallas to the side for the midweek win over Dynamo Kiev and he appeared to be on the outside looking in, as he took no part in the celebrations following the 1-0 victory.
It would appear Clichy feels a bond has been broken and he claims Gallas should have kept his views private.
“It has shattered something within the squad,” said Clichy.
"It is something that should have remained between him and the boss even though there may be some truth in what William said.
“The manager and William have since discussed the matter but it is still a shame.
“It is done now, and there is no going back. It is now down to the players and staff to glue the fragments back together and move on.
“What William said was difficult, not only because he was the captain but because he is an experienced player.”
