Tony Adams has handed Linvoy Primus a Fratton Park lifeline by stating the Portsmouth defender can still play a part in his side.
Primus returned to training for Pompey on Tuesday following the end of a loan spell at Charlton, and while Adams has said he is unlikely to feature for the South Coast side over Christmas he can see a place in his plans for the 35-year-old.
“Linvoy trained yesterday morning so he's back in the frame,” Adams told The News.
“I don't think he's fit enough to actually be playing, that was his first training session.
“It's lovely to have him around the place again, that's what we need, we need Portsmouth people who want to play for Portsmouth.
“The squad is tight anyway.
“It's a good squad but it's not 50 players.
“In recent weeks I've had Marc Wilson at right-back so there are good opportunities here for people who want to come and play.”
Meanwhile, Adams has said he will not entertain the idea of letting youngster Wilson go out on loan to gain more experience.
“Marc's too close to the team at the moment to loan him out,” added Adams.
“I thought he did very well against Heerenveen and we can't keep a clean sheet so it would be foolish of me as a manager to let him go out just yet.”
