Redknapp eyes Bale improvement

by Alex Livie , 26 December 2008

Harry Redknapp has challenged Gareth Bale to fulfil his potential at Tottenham.

The Wales international has huge expectation on his shoulders, having joined Tottenham in a £10 million deal from Southampton.

Bale’s start to life at White Hart Lane has been plagued by injuries, but Redknapp feels the youngster’s problems will soon be a thing of the past.

However, Redknapp feels Bale has plenty to learn if he is to become a Spurs great.

"I see him as a great left back eventually,” said Redknapp. “But he has to learn the game and become a stronger defender to become a great left back. But he has everything in his locker to be a great player.

"It's parts of his games like the one on ones, things like that. We just need to toughen him up a bit but he's got everything else."
