Fabregas fit to return

by Robin Hackett , 29 March 2009

Arsene Wenger has revealed Cesc Fabregas is set to return from injury against Manchester City on Saturday.

The Spain star has been out for three months with ruptured knee ligaments, but he returned to training earlier this month and Wenger says he is now fit to return.

“Cesc will be available for the Man City game,” he said in the Daily Star Sunday.

“I haven’t picked the team yet so I don’t know if he’ll play, but he’s available.”

Meanwhile, Tomas Rosicky has admitted he feared he would never play football again after his 14-month injury layoff.

The Czech Republic star suffered a tendon problem in January last year and has had several setbacks in his return.

However, he has now recovered from that injury and, while he is now struggling with a small groin strain, he is hoping he has put the torment behind him.

“It’s been a very difficult time,” he told the club's official website.

“When you have two operations and are still in constant pain for almost a year, of course I thought I would never play again.

“I had so many scans and saw so many doctors around Europe - but now, at last, I know the knee is all right and I will soon play again.

“That is such a good feeling.”
