Iceland coach Olafur Johannesson believes Scotland are likely to finish second in Group Nine in the World Cup qualifiers after their loss at Hampden.
Steven Fletcher hit the crucial winning goal in the 2-1 victory, but despite the result Jonannesson was pleased with his side and was left cursing the decision to award the corner that led to the winner.
“I think I was happy with my team today, we knew before that game that the Scots would have the ball more than us and we were unlucky not to get something [from the game],” he said.
“I did not think it was a corner. It seemed that the Scots player touched the ball out.”
He added: “I think they have a good chance to get into second place, a very good chance.”
Scotland’s preparations were overshadowed by Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor’s indiscipline which led to them being dropped to the bench.
But despite their opponents losing their captain, Johannesson insisted it did not alter his side’s plans.
“No I do not think so,” he explained. “There are rules in football ad players have to follow the rules.
“It is the same everywhere. We did not change our game because of that.”
