Boyd ponders Scots return

by Brian Etherson , 07 April 2009

Rangers striker Kris Boyd has admitted he would be prepared to return to the international scene if George Burley were to lose his job.

Last year, Boyd sensationally quit and said he would never play for Scotland again while Burley was in charge after constantly being overlooked by the national coach.

But now, Boyd freely admits that he hopes his decision will not come back to haunt him in years to come.

Boyd said: "Who knows, maybe in 20 years' time I will look back and say to myself: 'I wish I hadn't done that.'

"But at that time, the best thing for me was concentrating fully on playing for Rangers.

"I've never said I'll not play for Scotland again. Hopefully in the future I can be a better striker for Scotland if they need me.

"I said at the time I wanted to play for my country again at some stage in the future and that has not changed.

"But my focus is on Rangers and being part of a successful team. That's always been my priority."
