Eredivisie round-up

by Richard Field , 11 April 2009

Twente moved within 11 points of Eredivisie leaders AZ following a 4-2 win over Roda.

Steve McClaren’s side took the lead through Romano Denneboom in the 17th-minute only for Laurent Delorge to equalise nine minutes later.

Franco Douglas and Slobodan Rajkovic also netted before half time for Twente whose fourth goal was supplied by Eljero Elia in the 74th-minute.

There was still time though  for Cisse Sekou’s consolation goal four minutes later.

Fifth-placed PSV were 2-0 winners over Utrecht with Carlos Salcido [45] opening the scoring, and Timmy Simon’s 55th-minute penalty maintained PSV’s push for European football next term.

Ten-man NEC came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw at De Graafschap after Patrick Pothuizen had been dismissed for deliberate handball.

Ben Sahar scored a brace for the home side while substitute Tim Janssen and Lasse Schone made sure NEC would not leave the host club pointless.

Sparta move into 13th following a 2-1 win at Den Haag who led through Richard Knopper’s first half goal.

A red card for Jerold Promes then compounded Sparta’s predicament but they responded in fine fashion with goals from Joshua John and Dele Adeleye’s 90th-minute winner.
