Charlton v Blackpool

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson may give former Derby striker Deon Burton the nod as his side bid to keep their slim chances of survival alive against Blackpool.

The Addicks must win all four of their remaining games to have any chance of staying up, and after two consecutive scoreless draws, Parkinson could turn to Burton, who scored for the reserves in midweek.

Blackpool manager Tony Parkes looks set to name an unchanged team for the trip south as The Seasiders have lost just once in their last seven matches.

Forward Stephen McPhee, who was on the bench for Monday’s 2-2 draw with Reading, injured his cruciate ligament in midweek while playing for the reserves, so DJ Campbell and Lee Hughes will continue to lead the line.

Nottingham Forest v Coventry

Relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest have major injury doubts with leading scorer Rob Earnshaw struggling with a knee injury.

Nathan Tyson is still sidelined with an ankle problem so on-loan striker Dexter Blackstock will continue up front, but goalkeeper Iain Turner may miss out with a toe injury.

Coventry boss Chris Coleman will certainly be without Leon Best as his side search for their first win in five matches, as the ex-Southampton forward requires groin surgery.

Also a doubt for The Sky Blues is French midfielder Guillaume Beuzelin, who picked up a knock against Charlton on Monday, but Robbie Simpson could return, having overcome a groin problem.

Plymouth v Doncaster

Doncaster manager Sean O’Driscoll will be without Adam Lockwood for the trip to Home Park, after the defender was ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

But O’Driscoll could welcome back Matt Mills to his back line, as the former Southampton man has recovered from a virus.

New Zealander Rory Fallon is in line for a recall to the Plymouth starting XI as Paul Sturrock’s men bid to pull further clear of the relegation zone.

Fallon made a brief cameo appearance off the bench in the 1-1 draw at Birmingham, but with three points a necessity for The Pilgrims, Fallon may get the nod from the outset.

Crystal Palace v Derby

Derby boss Nigel Clough will certainly be without defender Jay McEveley when his side face Crystal Palace as the ex-Blackburn man has a broken bone in his left foot.

That won’t stop Clough ringing the changes in defence, however, after his side shipped three goals last time out against Wolves, with Lewin Nyatanga set to start.

Eagles manager Neil Warnock is set to continue with youth on Saturday, with 18-year-old midfielder James Comley set to deputise for the injured Shaun Derry.

While fellow 18-year-old Kieron Cadogan may also get the nod in attack, having impressed off the bench in the 1-0 defeat at the hands of Southampton on Monday.

Preston v Cardiff

Preston boss Alan Irvine has a selection headache for tomorrow's do-or-die meeting with Cardiff after Callum Davidson surprisingly declared himself fit.

The Scotland full back returned to full training with the PNE squad on Thursday and looked in prime condition.

Defender Roger Johnson has a 50-50 chance of starting for Cardiff City at Preston tomorrow.

But, while he recovers from the damage to his windpipe from his clash with Crystal Palace defender Claude Davis last weekend, Bluebirds manager Dave Jones is still fuming about the incident.

Reading v Barnsley

James Harper will miss Reading’s next two matches – and faces a race against time to play before the end of the regular season.

The hard-working midfielder was ruled out of Royals’ Championship matches against Sheffield United and Blackpool after suffering a groin injury in training last Thursday.

And manager Steve Coppell has already resigned himself to being without him against struggling Barnsley and next Tuesday’s rearranged trip to Derby County.

The majority of Barnsley fans might well have lost faith but under-fire boss Simon Davey still believes his team can escape the clutches of relegation.

Last night the Welshman, who insisted he won’t make wholesale changes following Bank Holiday Monday’s home loss against Swansea, has urged the disgruntled supporters to ‘stick with the team.’

Sheff Wed v Southampton

Akpo Sodje looks set to miss the last three matches of The Owls' season after a fresh niggle in his hamstring.

Brian Laws revealed today that the striker will be pulled out of the squad for Saturday's home match against Southampton.

Wade Small's Hillsborough involvement could also be over for this season - he was expected to extend his loan at Blackpool today.

Southampton were last night close to agreeing a deal with Swansea City for the sale of loanee winger Nathan Dyer, it is believed.

The transfer fee – which could be around the £500,000 mark – would help shore up the finances at St Mary’s and give the administrators extra time in which to find a buyer for the club.

Though he cannot be transferred permanently to the Welsh club until after the Championship season finishes on May 3, the guarantee of cash coming in could be enough to convince existing creditors such as Barclays Bank to fund the outgoings of the club, including wages, for the rest of the 2008/09 campaign.

Swansea v Bristol City

Angel Rangel may have played his last game for Swansea City.

That is the stark reality at the end of a week where it emerged that Rangel, currently injured, could feature alongside Jordi Gomez on Celtic's list of summer transfer targets.

Roberto Martinez revealed yesterday that the heel problem which sidelined Rangel over the Easter weekend could yet rule him out for the rest of the season.

Bristol City striker Lee Trundle is desperately hoping to get the chance to make an emotional return to Swansea tomorrow.

Trundle is afforded legendary status amongst Swansea fans for his goalscoring exploits during a fairytale four-year spell at the club.

He was continually linked with moves away during that time before his Liberty Stadium career finally did come to an end with a big-money £1 million pound move to Ashton Gate two summers ago.

Watford v Birmingham

Watford have received no approaches from other clubs for Tamas Priskin, and boss Brendan Rodgers say claims by the striker’s agent that he is “very likely” to leave in the summer need to be taken with “a pinch of salt”.

Priskin’s agent Jozsef Vorosbaranyi claimed last week that ten to 15 clubs were interested in signing the Hungarian, including Premier League sides Fulham, Middlesbrough and Hull as well as teams in Italy.

Birmingham goalkeeper Maik Taylor has revealed his disappointment at having to sit out Saturday's crucial game at Watford due to suspension.

Taylor, however, said Colin Doyle was a more than able deputy to step in.

An appeal of wrongful dismissal concerning Taylor's controversial sending-off against Plymouth Argyle was rejected by an FA regulatory commission yesterday.

Wolverhampton v QPR

Wolves’ depleted strike force could face further disruption as Villa consider a possible recall for Marlon Harewood.

The forward is eligible to aid the club’s bid to clinch promotion back to the Premier League against QPR on Saturday, but the terms of his loan deal state Villa can invoke a 24-hour recall option thereafter.

The loss of the 29-year-old, who set up two of Wolves’ goals in Monday’s 3-2 win at Derby, would be a blow to Mick McCarthy’s men, leaving them with only Sam Vokes and Andy Keogh, although top scorer Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is on the way back.

QPR chairman Flavio Briatore has denied any suggestion that he is involved in team selection in the wake of ex-boss Paulo Sousa's Loftus Road exit.

The Italian said the claim was "incorrect", adding: "Paulo picked the team all the time."

Briatore also said reports that QPR had sacked Sousa were "totally inaccurate".
