Eredivisie final day round-up

by setanta.com staff , 10 May 2009

FC Volendam have been relegated to the second division of Dutch football after a 2-2 final day draw at relegation rivals De Graafschap.

Roda JC began the day bottom of the table but defeated eight-man Feyenoord 3-2 at De Kuip to preserve their Eredivisie status.

Anouar Hadouir’s goal twenty minutes from time ultimately secured victory for Roda at Feyenoord, who lost Dwight Tiendalli, Kevin Hofland and Georgino Wijnaldum to dismissals.

Ben Sahar, the striker on loan from Chelsea, scored the 78th-minute equaliser for De Graafschap which saved his team’s skin and relegated their opponents.

Roda JC, De Graafschap and Heracles, who drew 1-1 at home to Utrecht, could all still join Volendam in the second division, depending on the forthcoming relegation/promotion play-offs.

ADO den Haag made sure of their place in the top flight next season by defeating Vitesse Arnhem 3-1.
