Blues star calm over contract uncertainty

by Tom Adams , 03 June 2009

Birmingham City star Sebastian Larsson insists he is relaxed about his situation despite entering the final year of his contract at St Andrews.

Larsson, 23, played a prominent role in the club’s promotion to The Premier League, starting 35 games and scoring 1 goal for the Midlands side.

The former Arsenal trainee has been in talks regarding a new deal for some time but appears happy for the situation to drag on as he prepares for a return to top-flight football.

“We have had a dialogue on the contract for a long time, but I feel no pressure,” Larsson, speaking ahead of Sweden’s World Cup qualifiers against Denmark and Malta, told Expressen.

“I have always said that I want to play in The Premier League and now I have got back in it.

“But if the club want to sell me, then we will see.”

Larsson turned down a new five-year contract following Birmingham’s relegation from The Premier League in 2008.
