Baggies defender keen on summer move

by Robin Hackett , 04 June 2009

West Brom defender Jonas Olsson looks set to leave the club this summer amid reported interest from several English clubs.

The 26-year-old former Sweden Under-21 international only joined from Dutch side NEC Nijmegen last summer but, following The Baggies’ relegation, he has been linked to Aston Villa, Everton, Blackburn and Bolton.

And Olsson, who is currently on holiday in his homeland, says he hopes to complete a move to a bigger club this month.

“I have heard that there are a few clubs talking about me, but it is my agent, Martin Dahlin, who will deal with the issue,” he said in Fotbolls Expressen.

“It is flattering – I have got the taste for The Premier League now.

"I will leave in June.

“We will see what happens when I return [from holiday] with the transfer window open.

“I like the club and the city but, without showing any disrespect to my team, this is the reality.

“You always want to re-motivate yourself by taking another step up.”
