After earning his first cap for the Republic of Ireland, Kevin Foley told setanta.com that he wants to keep hold of his starting place.
The former Luton Town man has been involved in numerous squads without ever making his debut, so he was delighted to finally feature for his country in their friendly match against Nigeria last week.
Mooted as a long-term replacement for Steve Finnan at right-back, Foley wants to stay in the team having tasted international football for the first time.
Don't forget to watch the Republic of Ireland take on Bulgaria in their World Cup qualifier on Saturday, June 6 from 17:50 on Setanta Sports 2.
He did have some shaky moments in that friendly at Craven Cottage, but Giovanni Trapattoni has been tracking him for a long time and knows what he is capable of.
In fact, the Ireland boss was very complimentary about Foley after his debut and hinted that he may even start against Bulgaria in a crucial World Cup qualifier on Saturday - and that is exactly what Foley is hoping for.
"I finally got that first cap, so I'll have to see where it goes from here," Foley said.
"It would be great to stay in the team and win more caps. I want to keep playing for Ireland and show the manager that I am ready.
"Obviously, there are a few lads that can play right-back, so there is plenty for the manager to choose from. I did okay in my first game, but can play a lot better.
"If I was involved against Bulgaria that would be brilliant, but I'll just work hard in training and see what happens."
