Arnautovic still hopeful of switch

by Chris Stanton , 05 June 2009

FC Twente’s in-demand striker Marko Arnautovic is confident the serious injury he sustained at the end of last season will not scupper his hopes of a high-profile transfer this summer.

Arnautovic appeared to be on his way to Chelsea before a foot injury put the kibosh on a dream move for the 20-year-old.

Reports in Holland went as far as to suggest that the injury first became apparent when Chelsea conducted a medical with the player in Vienna last month.

Whatever the truth of those reports, confirmation of the injury certainly dampened Chelsea’s interest and more recently the player has been linked with a loan move to Serie A champions Inter.

“Of course they do not buy injured players,” said Arnautovic.

“I hope to be fit again soon, perhaps within two months.”
