Scouting role for Sbragia

by Richard Field , 05 June 2009

Former Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia is to head up a new player recruitment department at the club.

Steve Bruce moved into the managerial hot-seat at the Stadium of Light following Sbragia’s decision to step down at the end of the season.

The Black Cats are keen to extend their scouting network according to chairman Niall Quinn.

“Ricky has agreed to head up a new, wider, scouting network that Steve brings to us,” Quinn said in the Guardian.

“Ricky will probably be here two or three days a week and travelling the rest of the time. We will be doing things a bit differently.”

This position for Sbragia has been fashioned as Sunderland look to buy intelligently with the funds at their disposal from Sunderland owner Ellis Short.
