Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has left the door ajar for Manchester United to come to the table with a bid for Karim Benzema by admitting the striker is not ‘untransferable’.
Benzema has featured on Sir Alex Ferguson’s radar for a couple of years, but Lyon have refused to sell – citing their quest to win the Champions League being of greater importance than financial gain.
Lyon’s grip on the French Ligue was broken by Bordeaux this year and it could be that changes will be made at the Gerland.
Benzema hinted earlier in the week that he would be prepared to move on if a suitable offer was tabled and this appears to be the sentiment of Aulas.
"Karim said he wants to stay, I don't want to sell, so he's here at 99 percent,” said Aulas.
"However, Kaka should not be leaving Milan and he will join Real Madrid.
"We have entered a period that is spiraling out of control. I am relaxed. I will not say Karim is untransferable."
