Blake’s 17th the target for Burnley

by Robin Hackett , 08 June 2009

Burnley forward Robbie Blake admits he would be delighted to finish 17th in the table next season.

The 33-year-old, who has previously played in the top flight with Bradford and Birmingham, was a key figure in The Clarets’ promotion through the play-offs this season.

However, while he feels boss Owen Coyle will have loftier ambitions, Blake says avoiding relegation is the height of his aims for the next campaign.

“I think you ask every team that should be down there if they’d take 17th then I’m pretty sure they’ll say yes,” he told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“But I’m pretty sure the gaffer’s so positive he won’t want to settle for 17th.

“He’ll want to push higher than that, so that’s what we’ve got to aim for.”
