Serbia cemented their position at the top of Group Seven with a 2-0 victory over bottom team Faroe Islands.
The table-toppers moved eight points clear of second placed France, who have two games in hand to claw back the deficit, but were made to work hard for the victory.
The hosts frustrated their opponents for 43 minutes before Milan Jovanovic put Serbia ahead.
And Neven Subotic ensured there was not going to be an upset when he grabbed the second midway through the second half.
The result puts Serbia in the box seat to qualify for South Africa while Faroe Islands remain rooted to the foot of the table with a solitary point.
