Group 9 round-up: Scotland put under pressure

by Laurent Picard , 10 June 2009

Macedonia put Scotland under intense pressure after moving level on points with them in Group Nine.

But the Scots still have a game in hand, following Macedonia's's well-deserved 2-0 win over Iceland.

Brynjar Gunnarsson's side, who have already played seven games, moved fourth in the group and have only a slim chance of qualifying for the World Cup.

Aco Stojkov opened the scoring 10 minutes into the game before super-sub Filip Ivanovski finished the job off with four minutes to go in the second half.

Holland, who celebrated their qualification for the World Cup in South Africa in front of the their home fans in Eindhoven, kept their 100 percent record intact, beating Norway 2-0, with goals from Andre Ooijer and Arjen Robben.
