Moussa Dembele is being tracked by Chelsea, but The Blues have a limited amount of time in which to make an offer if they are to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
The AZ Alkmaar forward has attracted interest from across Europe with his displays for the Dutch champions this season, with Juventus, Fiorentina and Sevilla all being linked with him.
AZ technical director Marcel Brands has confirmed that Dembele’s agent, Patrick Vervoort, has told him that the Premier League outfit are on his trail.
Vervoort told the press recently that Chelsea had contacted him about Dembele, but Brands’ revelation that he has been informed of the English side’s interest by the player’s agent suggests that a move could be imminent.
“I know through his agent that Chelsea are following Moussa,” said Brands in De Telegraaf.
“But Genoa registered their interest a few weeks ago.
“I will certainly not say no [to a move], but if there is nothing by June 22 he will report for the club’s first training session of pre-season.”
Dembele is not averse to remaining at AZ, but his interest has certainly been roused by news of interest from abroad.
“I am certainly not against such a development,” Dembele told Het Laatste Nieuws.
“I am indeed in a good position.
“I can continue at AZ, where it is excellent, or move to a foreign club.”
