It was Ronaldo’s dream - Queiroz

by Laurent Picard , 12 June 2009

Portugal chief Carlos Queiroz has confirmed that moving to Real Madrid was Cristiano Ronaldo’s biggest dream.

The former Manchester United coach has congratulated his fellow countryman for his upcoming £80 million record transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s ex-number two, who is struggling in the World Cup qualifiers with La Selecao, is not shocked by the transfer fee and even understands that it can motivate people to push for their future.

“It was the dream of his life, congratulations to him,” Queiroz said.

“Cristiano and Luis Figo are examples of talented players that have become role models for the fans thanks to their hard work and rigorous education.

“Mega transfers mean a lot to the players, but they are also a source of motivation to people because it shows that anything can happen.”
