Damien Duff’s representative has laughed off suggestions that the former Blackburn hero would consider a move to local rivals Burnley.
It has been reported that the Republic of Ireland international is a possible summer recruit for Owen Coyle’s side following their promotion to The Premier League and Newcastle’s own relegation.
But Duff began his career at Ewood Park and made 185 league appearances for the club between 1996 and 2003, before making a £17 million move to Chelsea.
As such, his advisor, Pat Devlin, has ruled out a possible move to Turf Moor.
“No, he’s still under contract at Newcastle and that would be his first port of call,” said Devlin in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
“I think someone’s winding up the Burnley fans because he’s a Blackburn fella!”
