Martinez move edges closer

by Toby Davis , 15 June 2009

Roberto Martinez’s move to Wigan could be finalised on Monday after Swansea chairman Huw Edwards admitted talks were progressing.

Wigan are thought to have agreed a compensation fee in the region of £2 million for the Swansea manager and are now negotiating over assistant Graeme Jones and chief scout Kevin Reeves.

Jenkins admitted he was hopeful of concluding the matter on Monday so both clubs could plan for next season.

"I have been speaking to Wigan over the weekend trying to resolve some issues and I'm hopeful we'll be able to bring a bit of sense to it all on Monday," Jenkins told the South Wales Evening Post.

"We just want to sort this mess out. We are looking for compensation for two members of our staff and I'm hopeful that we'll get what we want.

"I'll be speaking to Wigan again on Monday and hope to put an end to this whole saga because it is time to move on."
