South Africa star keen on English switch

by Robin Hackett , 16 June 2009

South Africa international Teko Modise has revealed he wants to move to England this summer.

The 26-year-old Orlando Pirates midfielder is reportedly attracting interest from Aston Villa, Manchester City and Wigan and admits he would relish the chance to play in The Premier League.

And, while he is concerned that his club may price him out of a move, he believes it is now time to make the step up.

"I'm a fan of English football and I've got a friend who is playing there in Steven Pienaar at Everton,” he said.

“We talk a lot about it and if the opportunity comes for me it would be very important.

"For two years now, Steven has been telling me to move on and move out of South Africa, but it's kind of difficult because I'm playing for a big team and the price tag as well – that was an issue.

“We'll see what happens but I think it's time.”
