Neil Warnock is hopeful of wrapping up a loan deal for West Ham’s Freddie Sears within the next week.
Gianfranco Zola has already signalled his intention to allow Sears out on loan and both Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday have since emerged as his most likely suitors.
Warnock would appear to have agreed terms for the player but must now wait for his return from holiday to ensure that he beats off competition from Wednesday.
"I've put it to Freddie that we play a lot of youngsters and give them opportunities and I feel this is the right club for him,” he said.
"I'm hoping we can conclude it over the next week or two but there are three or four other clubs who have agreed financial terms and are talking to him."
Warnock also revealed his interest in bringing Southampton’s Bradley Wright-Phillips to Selhurst Park.
