Agent rules out Mikel switch

by Toby Davis , 18 June 2009

John Obi Mikel’s agent has quashed speculation the player could be leaving Chelsea this summer.

Reports had linked The Blues midfielder to Serie A champions Inter to link up with former boss Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho gave Mikel his break in English football, fighting off competition from Manchester United to snatch the midfielder from Norwegian side Lyn Oslo.

But his agent, John Ola Shittu, has ruled out the possibility of a swift reunion with the Inter boss.

“Chelsea are right behind him," his agent told brilafm.net.  "They are very happy with him and they want to keep him for as long as possible.

“In the next one or two weeks, we are probably going to be able to give you guys more good news. Mikel is not going anywhere.

“He is staying with Chelsea. He is 100 per cent committed to the cause and that’s where he is going to be for now.”
