Grant confirms Fortune interest

by Gordon Pope , 20 June 2009

Peter Grant has admitted that Celtic are eyeing up a move for Nancy striker Marc-Antoine Fortune.

The Hoops appointed Tony Mowbray as manager with Grant part of the background staff, and the pair know Fortune well from their time at West Bromwich Albion.

The forward spent the second half of the season at The Hawthorns, hitting five goals, and Grant believes he could be a success in The SPL.

“Marco is a quality player and we were very impressed with just how he did for us last season,” he said in The Scottish Sun.

“People say he didn’t have a fantastic scoring record, but look at the goals from midfield after he came in.

“The goals the other boys scored because of the way he played was phenomenal.

“Marco had a great ethic about him in his training as well as his playing. He was a privilege to work with.

“He’s one of those players we’d be interested in if he was available and affordable.”
