Defour claims Toffees bid rejected

by Alex Livie , 22 June 2009

Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour claims the Belgian club have rejected a bid for his services from Everton.

The classy schemer has long been on Everton’s radar and he says the interest has cranked up a level with an offer.

Defour claims he is in the dark as to the size of the offer and will await developments with interest.

"How high was the bid? I do not know, you would need to ask Luciano D'Onofrio [Standard Liege vice-president] that question," Defour told Het Laatste Nieuws.

"I will now sit and wait for developments. I am happy at Standard, especially now we are in the Champions League.

”But I am ready to move abroad if the club agree a transfer.”
