Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies was gutted with the way his side conceded defeat to Aberdeen on Tuesday night.
The Rugby Park club should have had the match wrapped up at half-time according to Jefferies, before they slumped to a 2-1 defeat.
But despite being unhappy with the manner of the loss, he was pleased with how his side worked in the first period.
“I couldn’t ask for any more, in the first half we got off to a good start and played really well and were not getting the break in and around the box,” he said.
“Even at 1-0 we looked the team that would go on and score a few goals, the keeper had a few good stops with a couple of them being instinctive.
“Then for them to go in at half-time 1-1 was very fortunate. I would say for the goal we conceded that if the ball comes in you are expecting to get above in the air to score, especially [Lee] Miller when he’s very good in the air.
“But to score with the outside of his right foot means we weren’t sharp enough to get to the ball, so the central defenders need to carry the can for that.
“Then in the second half we started nothing like we did in the first and that gave Aberdeen a lift. The second goal was another sloppy piece of defending, we’ve had the ball in control on the edge of the box then Manuel Pascali starts trying to be clever and got caught.
“It’s not even a great ball in but Miller has managed to get flick on it and it’s gone into the net. That’s the last thing you need, because we ended up chasing the game and really we didn’t need to chase because we should have been at least a couple of goals up on the first half performance.
“So I’m really disappointed because it’s a game we really should have won.”
