Peugeot recorded a one-two result in the Le Mans 24 Hours, with Marc Gene, David Brabham and Alex Wurz the victorious driving team.
Gene was followed over the line by Sebastien Bourdais in another of the turbo-diesel 908 HdiFAPs.
Current Formula 1 racer Bourdais had shared driving duties in the French manufacturer’s second machine with Franck Montagny and Stephane Sarrazin.
The Bourdais-Montagny-Sarrazin combination had challenged the front-running squad through the night, before Peugeot ordered formation running for the final three hours of the race, though the appearance of the safety car - due to a Seiji Ara crash - had shook events up in the 23rd hour.
The best Audi could manage was a distant third place, with Tom Kristensen, Allan McNish and Rinaldo Capel performing the driving duties.
Emmanuel Collard, Casper Elgaard and Kristian Poulsen drove a Porsche RS Spyder to victory for the LMP2 class for the Essex team, while Jan Magnussen, Johnny O'Connell and Antonio Garcia scored the Corvette C6.R's victory for Corvette Racing in the GT1 category.
Risi Competizione eased to victory in the GT2 battle, Jaime Melo, Pierre Kaffer and ace Mika Salo the triumphant racers.
