Loffredo, Leicester close on settlement

by Niamh O'Mahony , 18 June 2009

Leicester Tigers and ex-coach Marcelo Loffredo are closing on a settlement figure after the Argentine was sacked from his position with the club last summer.

The 50-year-old arrived in the Guinness Premiership having led his country to third at the 2007 World Cup, but failed to ignite The Tigers into life and was sacked only seven months into a two-and-a-half-year contract.

"I am trying to finish with the Leicester issue," Loffredo told the Leicester Mercury.

We are on good terms. They have behaved quite well in this part of the negotiations."

Loffredo said that he was “considerably shocked” by the decision at the time, though Leicester went on to win the Guinness Premiership and to reach the Heineken Cup final the following season.
