Hughes picks up hefty ban

by Oli Skehan , 23 June 2009

Richard Hughes has picked up a six-day ban after he was found guilty of careless riding at Windsor on Monday evening.

The ban, which runs from July 6-11, will rule Hughes out of the July Cup meeting and could have major repercussions for the Irish rider as Paco Boy, impressive winner of the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, is still under consideration for the feature race of the meeting.

Hughes won the Pertemps Network Maiden Stakes on Saturn Girl and while the winner was allowed to keep the race despite a long stewards' inquiry, the jockey was handed a hefty ban.
