Sea The Stars did not have huge amount in hand

by Nick Luck , 08 June 2009

Sea The Stars won the Derby with a little bit in hand  on Saturday - but not a huge amount.

This is as far as he wants to go and a Triple Crown bid has all but been ruled out by John Oxx.

He may go to the Irish Derby next, but if he does he is likely to meet runner-up Fame And Glory, who is likely to  be ridden more aggresively in order to really try to expose Sea The Stars' stamina. That would be an endurable debate to witness between now and then.

In the mean time, we get to enjoy that we've an extremely high-class race horse on our hands - the best in a few years perhaps, one I'm sure who will win several more Group Ones.

He's certainly in the right hands in John Oxx - a great trainer.
