Setanta Golf pundit Ronan Rafferty was impressed by Henrik Stenson's mastery of the difficult Sawgrass course, as he watched him shoot a bogey-free 66 on Sunday to win the Players Championship.
At the start of the fourth day on Sunday, no-one could have foreseen a bogey-free round like Henrik Stenson managed.
Aaron Baddeley came in with a 66 at the start of the morning, but as the day wore on the ground was getting firmer and harder. The ground began to crust up, and the ball began to go faster, and I did not see anyone really going out and attacking the golf course.
I did not foresee that happening, but then again, did anyone foresee Stenson playing so well?! We knew he could play well and shoot low scores, but this 66 was a great score in conditions like that.
He did all the rights things coming up the stretch. Coming back in 32, when he really needed to post a score, was some achievement. He birdied one of the hardest holes on the course, the 13th, at a crucial stage.
