Everton may just nick it

by Craig Burley , 29 May 2009

Everton have had a tougher run to the FA Cup final than Chelsea.

Liverpool, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Manchester United all had to be overcome by David Moyes’ men.

United will probably say they should of had a penalty when Danny Welbeck went down [semi final], and it has been tough for Everton and their season has been in general.

When you play without strikers and some other key players it is difficult with the likes of the Arteta’s, Jagielka’s and Yakubu’s missing - they have got no strikers it is very, very difficult.

David Moyes and his players have had to overcome a lot of problems and that is what makes me think that Saturday may just be their day at Wembley.

Moyes has the qualities to be a manager at one of the Big Four

Do you have to be a Jose Mourinho or Arsene Wenger? Was Wenger spectacular when he first came to Arsenal?

Mourinho was a man-made spectacular because he brought that upon himself but David Moyes is not that kind of guy.

He goes about his job behind the scenes and gets the guys working in the way he wants them to.

Moyes is working within a budget and I do think that if Everton do not come up with a better budget than that, eventually he will move on.

Drogba back to his best

Didier Drogba has been brilliant recently after being an enigma in his first six months of the season.

He was a pain in the backside and they probably wanted rid of him! For the second six months of the season Chelsea cannot get enough of him.

He is now in the right frame of mind, he is bossing defenders who are wondering how to deal with Didier Drogba.

Anelka defensive weakness can be exploited

Credit to Nicolas Anelka whose adapted from moving from up front to that wide right position and he has not sulked.

Guus Hiddink has come in and said 'Drogba is the man to lead the line and I want you [Anelka] to still play a part but out on the right'.

What I will say is that defensively Everton can play on that, Anelka does not always track back and Everton can exploit this.

He did not in the semi final when Kieran Gibbs got in behind him for Arsenal’s first goal from Theo Walcott.

Going forward great! But he might not want to do the dirty work at the back.
