We were just one goal and one point away from survival, but to see the way we whimpered out of The Premier League at Villa Park, you'd never have guessed it. In a second half that simply defied belief, Villa's former Mapgies keeper Brad Friedel did not have a single save to make as United served up a clueless, heartless and totally shambolic display. To claim that the killer blow - a deflection off Damien Duff - was unlucky, would be to ignore 94 minutes of utter garbage that quite rightly saw us demoted to The Championship. However, it was incredibly fitting that we ultimately shot ourselves in the foot to deliver that final blow, the fact that it came via one of our misfiring superstars sums up an entire season of own goals.
