Reid joins Baggies on loan

by Admin , 05 March 2010 Steven Reid

Blackburn midfielder Steven Reid has joined Championship high-flyers West Brom on a month-long loan deal.

The Republic of Ireland International has made one Premier League appearance all season, and just 44 in the last four campaigns, and knows he must impress Sam Allardyce to earn a new deal in the summer.

Reid will now get that chance at the Hawthorns after the Baggies nipped in to sign him from under the noses of Sheffield Wednesday, who thought they were favourites to do a deal.

"Steven is an exciting player and I'm delighted to welcome him to the club," said Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo.

"We've been looking to strengthen our squad for the final push and Steven certainly fits the bill. He's a versatile player with loads of experience.

"We've had some great references about Steven so hopefully he'll perform at the level we expect him to."
