Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen feels that Saturday’s opponents Arsenal have a great chance to win the Premier League title, and that three points from the Emirates clash, shown live on Setanta Ireland, could set the Gunners up for a unlikely fourth title under Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal have a poor record against their immediate rivals Chelsea and Manchester United, losing both their home and away games to the pair, but have stayed in the race thanks to their consistency of results against the lower teams.
The North London giants have a far easier ten-game run-in than Chelsea or United, with a North London derby at White Hart Lane and a home clash with Manchester City the only real tests.
Jensen accepts that Arsenal will see the encounter with Burnley as a must-win game if they are to stay in contention for the league.
"They have every chance of winning the title, certainly as much as Chelsea or Manchester United,” Jensen exclusively told Setanta Sports.
“It is the most open title race I have seen for years, they have a great run-in, including teams down the bottom and around the midtable.
"They are probably going to start with us, but we will see how it goes in the end, if it is enough.”
Jensen admits that Burnley’s poor away form is the reason that the Clarets are stuck in the bottom three, on 23 points with 11 games to go, and feels that a gung-ho attitude away from home might explain why they have only accumulated one point on the road.
"We approach every single game the same way. We want to win the game, we want to score goals, and play positive and attractive football,” he continued.
"But when you are away from home, in front of another team’s fans, you are playing a team at home who feel they should not bet beaten.
"We face quick, counter-attacks, often from top opposition, and it is always different (away from Turf Moor). That has probably been our biggest mistake this season; we need to be a little more organised and compact. But we are trying to eradicate the mistakes of the past, to look forward and then to pick up some points away from home.
Despite the 3-3 draw at Manchester City being their only point from 14 away games, Jensen has not given up hope of Brian Laws’ men nicking a result on Saturday.
"We know we are the underdogs against Arsenal and it is going to be a tough one, but if they have an off day and we play well, we have a chance against anybody.”
