Fluminese have confirmed that they want to delay Brazilian starlet Wellington Silva's switch to Arsenal from next January until 2012.
The Gunners agreed a £3.5million deal with Fluminese in the previous January window to take the youngster, but agreed to leave him in Brazil for another 12 months as they cannot register him at the Emirates Stadium until he turns 18 next year.
Wellington has since forced his way into the Rio de Janeiro side's first team and is set for a key role following the sale of 20-year-old striker Maicon to Lokomotiv Moscow.
Fluminese have been so impressed with his performances that they would like to delay his switch to the Gunners for another year until 2012.
"We know it will be difficult, but we are working on a way to make it happen," said Fluminense's vice-president of football Alcides Antunes.
Meanwhile Arsenal's current Brazilian star Denilson has revealed that he is excited about welcoming Wellington to the club and hopes to help him settle in as well as midfielder Gilberto Silva did for him almost four years ago.
"Wellington has been here, to my house, and he knows that when he comes next year, we're waiting for him here, especially Eduardo and I, who are the Brazilians here," he told the Mail.
"It is something that I've been through. When I arrived at Arsenal I was greeted well by Gilberto Silva and now it is my turn.
"The situation (of adapting) can go well if you keep a good head and depending who comes with you."
