Samba backs strength in defence

by Admin , 11 March 2010 Blackburn Generic

Christopher Samba claims Blackburn's strength in depth will ease the loss of skipper Ryan Nelsen for Saturday's trip to Tottenham.

The Rovers ace is disappointed that Sam Allardyce will be unable to call upon New Zealand international, Nelsen, who is still struggling to shake off a knee injury.

However Samba feels that with the likes of Gael Givet performing well this season and other players waiting in the wings, Nelsen's absence at White Hart Lane will not be a total disaster.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: "Now we have Gael and we have a lot of players who can play as a centre half. For me it is better when we are all here because we can defend very well, especially in the aerial game.

"Yes Ryan is a big loss but we try to continue to play well at the back."
