Career in balance for Spurs star

by Admin , 12 March 2010 football news

Jonathan Woodgate has undergone another operation on his groin injury in a bid to cure the career-threatening injury.

The centre-back has made just three appearances this season because of the problem and has been to visit specialists in America and Australia in an attempt to get back to full fitness.

The 30-year-old is set to miss the rest of the season having gone under the knife Down Under as he tries to get over yet another injury in a career blighted by problems.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he has put no timescale on Woodgate's return and is just hopeful he will return to full fitness.

"Jonathan Woodgate has had an operation out in Australia today, so we will keep our fingers crossed," said Redknapp.

"It was a groin problem he has had. Eventually he went to America and has ended up in Australia to see a specialist out there and they have operated on him.

"There were a couple of options but they confident they have got the right answer so we will have to wait and see.

"Will he play again this season? There is no real chance."
