Carlo facing defensive dilemma

by Admin , 16 March 2010 Chelsea Generic

Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho has recovered from a hamstring injury and could face Inter Milan this evening.

Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti now has to decide whether to recall the Portuguese central defender or stick with Brazilian Alex who has slotted in well alongside John Terry.

Elsewhere third-choice goalkeeper Ross Turnbull will continue between the sticks and Ancelotti has every faith in the youngster as Chelsea look to overturn a 2-1 deficit.

"It's not possible for Cech or Hilario to recover, so Turnbull will play and Rhys Taylor will stay on the bench like on Saturday," explained Ancelotti.

"There's no chance of me taking a risk on Cech. Turnbull is a confident lad and we have confidence in him."

Chelsea: (from) Turnbull, Taylor, Ivanovic, Kalou, Alex, Drogba, Malouda, Terry, Carvalho, Borini, Lampard, Obi, Deco, Anelka, Zhirkov, J Cole, Belletti, Ballack, Kakuta, Sturridge.
