England toil to Bangladesh win

Junaid Siddique and Mushfiqur Rahim could not prevent England claiming a 181-run victory against Bangladesh in the first Test.

Siddique brought up his first Test century in an inspirational knock for the international minnows before Graeme Swann removed the pair in quick succession after a 167-run stand on the final day in Chittagong, with Mushfiqur falling just five short of a second Test ton.

The spinner then closed out the win with match figures of 10-217 as the hosts crumbled to 331 all out.

The defeat means Bangladesh go 1-0 down in the two-match series but the manner in which they made Alastair Cook and his team-mates toil will give the England captain food for thought.

The decision to field only four bowlers - including one spinner - on a dead pitch is certain to be addressed ahead of the ahead of the second Test in Dhaka.
