The word coming out of Limerick is that goalkeeper Tadhg Flynn should make a quick recovery after the nasty neck injury he suffered on Sunday.
The former Kerry stopper was injured following an accidental clash with Waterford's Eoin McGrath as the Treaty County suffered their third straight loss in National Hurling League Division 1 on Sunday. He fell to the ground causing the game to be delayed for some time as he was worryingly placed on a spinal board and removed from the field.
However, the player was allowed to leave hospital on Sunday night and it is now believed that he will be able to resume training in the coming days, albeit if Limerick's next game against Tipperary in Sunday comes just a little too soon for him.
"Whatever way he fell, he was a small bit concussed, but he was fine again last night - our own senior hurling manager spoke to him and confirmed that," a spokesman from Flynn's club Ahane told the Irish Examiner.
"He'll probably miss the next match, but that will be a call by the Limerick medical team.
"He was taken to hospital but it was purely as a precautionary measure. The paramedics at the game weren't sure whether or not there was a problem and in that situation you can't take any chances, so he was immobilised and taken to hospital. He is okay now and will be fine in a few days."
