Stoke consider referee complaint

Stoke are considering whether to make an official complaint about referee Mike Dean after his performance in the 2-1 defeat to Spurs.

The Potters have had a number of run-ins with Dean this season as he has handed out three of the four red cards Stoke players have received in the current campaign, including Saturday's dismissal of Dean Whitehead.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis did not want Dean in charge of this weekend's game against Tottenham and tried in vain to have another official oversea the match.

Pulis was once again fuming with Dean's performance come Saturday evening after his sending-off of Whitehead and the club are now reportedly considering whether to take their complaints to the Professional Game Match Officials Board (PGMO).

"We sent a letter saying we didn't think we received a fair crack of the whip with Mike Dean, while I spoke to Mike Riley about our concerns about him," said Pulis.

"We wanted to see if we could at least avoid him until the end of the season, but they had already selected the official."

"We are making a case that Mike Dean doesn't do very well for Stoke.

"We compiled an in-depth set of statistics, but nobody takes any notice and he gets the game again.

"I will not speak to him because it's a waste of time."
