Preston seal double deal

by Admin , 06 July 2010

Preston boss Darren Ferguson has moved to bolster his squad by completing the double signing of defenders Wayne Brown and Craig Morgan.

Leicester's Brown has joined on a free transfer after impressing whikle on loan at Deepdale last season while Ferguson has returned to his former club Peterborough to seal a £400,000 move for Morgan.

Ferguson said: "Wayne is one that we know all about. He is very experienced, he has had a promotion with Hull and got to the Play-offs last year with Leicester in the Championship so he obviously knows this division well.

"Craig Morgan is only 25, but he made his debut at 16 so he seems like a veteran, but he's not, the lad's got great ability."

Meanwhile, Burnley have confirmed the signing of winger Ross Wallace on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee. Clarets boss Brian Laws has been on the hunt for a new left winger all summer as he looks to get Burnley back into the Premier League at the first attempt. Laws turned to 25-year-old Wallace after becoming frustrated with his attempts to sign Hearts winger Andrew Driver.

Speaking of the deal the former Sheffield Wednesday manager said: "He is one of the best left-sided players in the Championship, he has a natural balance and players like that are very hard to come by so I think we've done a fantastic bit of business.

"The work that we've done in bringing him in will certainly enhance the team and give us that extra dimension we have been looking for.

"He's not just your bog standard winger because he's got a bit of everything and I know our strikers will be very happy with his service."

Wallace began his career at SPL giants Celtic and had a three year spell at Sunderland before joining Preston, initially on loan, in 2008.
