Preview: Scotland v Spain (Tues)

by Setanta Staff , 11 October 2010

Sunderland full-back Phil Bardsley is expected to make his Scotland debut when they host world champions Spain at Hampden Tuesday.

With Alan Hutton a major doubt with a groin injury and Kirk Broadfoot definitely out, manager Craig Levein has revealed that Bardsley, who was called into the squad last week after pledging his allegiance to Scotland. is poised to make his debut in the Group I match.

Gary Caldwell, Steven Whittaker (calf) and Graham Dorrans (hamstring) all sat out training on Saturday with Caldwell definitely out of the starting line-up, although he could feature on the bench for the clash with the Spanish.

Captain Darren Fletcher should be fit to play despite taking a knock in Friday's 1-0 defeat by Czech Republic, while Lee McCulloch is available again after suspension.
