Preview: Liverpool -v- Braga

by Tony Cuddihy , 16 March 2011

New Liverpool striker Andy Carroll continues his bid for full fitness in the Europa League against Braga on Thursday night, yet is still not guaranteed a start.

The Stg35million man has made two substitute appearances since his January move from Newcastle United, the second of which came last week in his team's 1-0 first leg defeat against the Portuguese team.

The Reds will be without Steven Gerrard, recovering from a groin operation, though defender Daniel Agger may get a place on the bench. The Dane has missed three matches with a knee injury.

Jonjo Shelvey is back in training after recovering from knee surgery but is some way short of a return, while Martin Kelly and Fabio Aurelio remain out.

Striker Luis Suarez is not eligible.
