Sheffield Wednesday have made a double move into the loan market to secure Bolton's Joey O'Brien and Wigan keeper Lee Nicholls.
Both players agreed to join the Owls until the end of the season ahead of the deadline for temporary transfers in the Football League.
O'Brien is back at Hillsborough for the second time after enjoying a previous stint with the club during 2004/2005 season when Wednesday won promotion from League One.
The midfielder is desperate to get some first-team football under his belt as he is out of contract in the summer at Bolton after returning from a career-threatening knee injury.
The Irishman has not played for the Trotters since October 2008 and hopes another move to South Yorkshire to work with his former boss Gary Megson can kickstart his career again.
Nicholls has been drafted in by Megson after his first-choice stopper Nicky Weaver was sidelined by a groin strain following a pelvic problem for backup Arron Jameson.
It's unlikely he will go straight into the team to face Dagenham and Redbridge as third choice Richard O'Donnell turned in an impressive display on debut at Southampton last weekend.
Nicholls will still be available to play for the Latics reserves should they need him under the terms of the youth loan agreement, which is similar to the deal which allowed the England under-19 international to spend a month at Hartlepool and Shrewsbury earlier this season.
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez said: "We wish Lee all the best. He is an outstanding prospect and this is going to help his development. There is nothing like being in a first team environment and hopefully he will get that with a great club like Sheffield Wednesday."
