Manny Pacquiao retained his WBO welterweight title by defeating 'Sugar' Shane Mosley on a points decision in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Pacquiao failed to show the best of his abilities but had too much for Mosley, who fought defensively and used tactics aimed at slowing the fight down throughout.
Pacquiao hit the canvas on one occasion. Although he appeared to be pushed to the ground by his opponent in the tenth round, referee Kenny Bayless ruled a knockdown, but there was little doubt that the Filipino would be awarded victory.
Following the 119-108, 120-108, 120-107 decision, Pacquiao said: "He felt my power. I did my best to give a good fight.
"Mosley is not slow. He's fast and I had to be cautious of his counter-punch."
Although he failed to become the first fighter to stop Mosley, Pacquiao managed to get the 39-year-old down in the third round.
The American admitted: "Manny is an exceptional fighter. He truly is the pound-for-pound king. He has speed and power that I have never felt before.
"He surprised me with that power with the knockdown," Mosley was quoted by BBC Sport. "That's the most legitimate knockdown on me in a long time."
