Watford have confirmed Sean Dyche as their new manager following Malky Mackay's departure to Cardiff last week.
Dyche, 39, has been promoted from assistant boss to first-team manager and replaces Mackay, who took over as new Bluebirds chief on Friday.
The former Watford defender, who was first appointed youth-team coach in 2007, has the backing of both chairman Graham Taylor and owner Laurence Bassini
"On behalf of the board, I fully endorse Sean's appointment," chairman Taylor told the club's website.
"Continuity is imperative. In Sean we have a very decent man who understands what it means to work for Watford. He is a strong advocate of the importance of our home-grown talent flourishing, having been youth-team coach only a couple of years ago."
Owner Bassini was equally pleased with the appointment and added: "I'm delighted that the board have been able to add their experience and influence to the decision to appoint Sean as our new manager.
"For me, this appointment is very much keeping in with 'the Watford way' of doing things and that's an ethos I'm growing more familiar with as time goes on."
Dyche's first signing has also been confirmed after Craig Forsyth was unveiled by the club, joining from Dundee on a three-year contract.
